![]() ![]() Once there, the doctors found him horribly disfigured from the incident, deformed and with a glowing skin: he was also radioactive, and couldn’t stay close to other people without poisoning them. As the energy being, Larry managed to guide his colleague to a safe landing, and then came back to his body, letting the other bring him to a hospital. From his cockpit, he saw a search plane looking for him, but apparently the pilot had some difficulty in landing: he thought for a moment to help him, and suddenly his mind was inside a negatively charged energy being, separated from his now unconscious body. The X-19 stayed in the stratosphere for hours, until Earth‘s gravity inevitably pulled it back to the ground: unconscious, Trainor came back to his senses just in time to prevent the jet from crashing, and operated a miracle emergency landing. The flight went perfectly, and the jet successfully broke the atmosphere… but then the commands were stuck, and Larry couldn’t do anything but watch helplessly as the jet brought him much higher than it was supposed to, crossing a field of deadly radiations. Thanks to his many successes and to his recognized talent, Larry was the pilot selected to test the X-19, an experimental suborbital jet. ![]() Unlike many other children dreaming of airplanes, Larry managed to realize his dream, and he joined the US Air Force as a test pilot, distinguishing himself for being quite a natural even with experimental jets, and becoming friends with other aces like Hal Jordan. ![]() Lawrence Trainor was born in Midway City, and since he was a kid he wanted to become a pilot. In the spin-off he’ll be portrayed by Matthew Zuk, while Matt Bomer will voice him and portray Trainor before the accident… the one we’re going to see together right here. Better known as the Negative Man, Larry is one of the founding members of the team, and even if we don’t get even the slightest glimpse of his powers, they’re definitely trippy. Because of this, Larry resented and rejected the presence inside him.Back to Titans, we find another one who’ll be among the main characters of the spin-off Doom Patrol, the weird guy looking like the Invisible Man that Rachel spots as he’s cooking for all the family: Larry Trainor, portrayed by Dwain Murphy. Like her, Larry couldn’t control the Negative Spirit and he would often lose consciousness every time the spirit took control of his body. Larry and Rita quickly formed a bond over their tragic situations. Niles Caulder rescued him from the Bureau of Normalcy. He was one of the first members of the Doom Patrol, joining Rita at the Doom manor after Dr. The accident left Larry permanently scarred, isolating him from his friends and family in the 1950s. The spirit gave him powers but they were also forced to share the same body. While flying near Earth’s orbit, Larry merged with a strange being, later called the Negative Spirit. Larry Trainor was a test pilot who suffered a tragic radioactive accident while testing an experimental space jet. Negative Man, is probably the most important DC TV character right now, but while being LGBTQIA was a new addition to this version of the character, his powers remained pretty close to his comic counterpart. Doom Patrol’s Negative Man has a tragic backstory - not unlike many other superheroes - but the exact nature of his powers, and his relationship with the negative spirit, is not always clear. ![]()
